Can you hear it? Is your future calling you? I bet it is!!! I have been intentionally blocking mine out for few months now. I am at that point post op in my weight loss journey where I have sort of sat back in my proverbial deck chair, arching a perfectly manicured eyebrow at the future that was rolling out before me….. okay, honestly it wasn’t perfectly manicured – it was probably a bit overgrown and misshapen just like the rest of me but meh that’s okay!!! Anyway, eyeing the future can be scary and it has been for me. I can feel it drawing me on but there are things and probably more particularly, relationships, that I didn’t want to walk on from. Change has been scary, and it’s also sometimes hard – so I set about reclining in the “looking like I am poised for activity position” but really I didn’t intend to move – then I got to thinking.
I am an habitual “stick at it” type. I can keep doing the same thing over and over even if it is hurting me! And that whole “definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result” saying has started to play on my mind!! So I have decided to let go of the familiar and open myself up to new adventures and new opportunities! What is holding you back today? But probably, and more importantly, what will you do to change that? For me, it is taking a new path in a different direction AND doing it while I am terrified – knowing that my days are not infinite and missed opportunities are just that – missed opportunities.
A few years back I heard a story about a bloke who was sitting on a roof in a flood, he was waiting to be rescued a certain way and knocked back a few different rescue attempts because the rescue didn’t look like he thought it would! I don’t wanna be that person – I am not going to sit on my roof and watch the world pass me by – I am taking the somewhat unconventional rescue and watching what happens to the water. So yes, it may be smooth sailing, rough seas or waters parting for me. Whatever it is – one way or another – I refuse to stay on the roof so let’s keep a weather eye on the horizon – and off we go xx
